This functionality is currently available simply on Onshape's browser platform.

This functionality is as well bachelor on iOS and Android in a limited form.

There are three ways to create a drawing:

  • Using a role, surface, Assembly, or Part Studio (presented beneath)
  • Equally an empty drawing, from scratch
  • Past Importing a Drawing a .DWG or .DXF file

  1. Create a drawing of a part, curve, or surface in a Part Studio, or of a subassembly in the Assembly listing:
    1. Right-click on the name of the part, bend, or surface in the Role listing or associates in the Assembly listing.
    2. Select Create drawing of <name>.
    3. Choose a template.

      Notice that you are able to select from Onshape-supplied templates, by selecting the Onshape filter on the left (or Show Onshape drawing templates).

      If y'all are a member of a company or a team, those filters are in the list every bit well (every bit the company or team name) under Existing templates.

      You lot are also able to create your own Custom Drawing Templates.

    4. Click OK.

  2. Create Views. The drawing is created, by default, with no views just with a view at your cursor. Use the Escape key to abolish the view, or click to place it in the drawing. Y'all are also able to create additional views.
  3. Add dimensions:
    1. Select a dimension tool.

      Notice that some of the tool icons have open circles; these tools apply snap points, the other tools apply edges.

    2. Snap points announced every bit open up boxes: hover and so click when the appropriate snap points are visible (or select necessary edges).

      The dimension text box appears on the click of the second snap bespeak or border.

    3. Drag dimension text box to desired location and click to identify.

  4. Consign to .DXF, .DWG, or PDF:
    1. Right-click on the drawing tab.
    2. Select the preferred format.

    Access the downloaded file on your local drive.

  5. Print the file:
    1. Open up the downloaded file in a compatible awarding.
    2. Print the file.

All drawings objects (except view geometry) have context menus: right-click on an object to access the context menu. These menus vary with the type of object.

Inferencing and snap points

Callouts and dimensions in Onshape drawings have automatic inferencing between each other upon creation and before placement in the cartoon. Turn off inferencing by property the Shift key during the functioning, if you wish.
